Description

This is an Austrian Austro-Hungarian empire WWI cavalry hat / cap in red cloth with gold buttons and badge. The item was faithfully reproduced here in the Czech Republic to look like the original. Quality material that were chosen to be as close as could be reasonably found to the originals were used in the construction. As well the pattern was made according to a known original hat. With the cavalry cap there was a small brim in cloth that could be tucked under the front when ridding. The reason was simple, a horse does not have a windshield like a car so a hat with a fixed brim could fly off the wearers head when the horse is running. The brim could be folded out and used to shield the wearers eye after dismounting the horse. The size is a 55 that is about equal to a 6 7/8 US size.
