    Description

    Here's a crude early pontiled 1820s Keene or Sandwich glass 3 mold blown hat whimsey open salt or toothpick holder....Grouped by McKearin as GII-18......hand blown in 3 pc mold....rough pontil scar on bottom....crude folded over rolled lip.....diamond hobnail pattern with fluted base...sunburst bottom.....2 1/4"tall x 2 3/8"across base....clear flint glass....Sparkling attic near mint condition with only one tiny nick on inner edge of folded rim; no other damage. A shiny clean salt or toothpick with no haze. This comes from my own personal collection, and originally from the David Paar Collection of New Hope, Pa. These early original hat whimseys are getting harder to find. Here's your chance to get a super nice example for your collection before the prices go up
